Job summary

Great Bear (Part of the Culina Group) provides distribution services to FMCG clients and emphasizes a customer-centric, site-level empowered culture. The company is seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager to support the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring health & safety and meeting KPI targets.

This full-time, permanent role operates Monday to Friday, 14:00–22:00. The role includes leading a shift team, managing Goods Inwards, maintaining audit and quality

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse operational experience is required.
• Experience in managing, supporting and motivating a large team.
• Proven experience in people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters.
• Experience in managing teams and prioritising a tight, challenging workload.
• Knowledge of safe working practices including Health and Safety elements.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Good IT skills, Microsoft packages and WMS experience.
• Previous 3PL experience is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and motivate the shift team to ensure productivity and service KPIs are met or exceeded.
• Uphold health, safety and hygiene standards and complete relevant paperwork.
• Maintain quality and compliance and audit standards for the site.
• Deliver communication briefings to keep shifts informed and engaged.
• Manage Goods Inwards to ensure fast, safe receipts and stock availability.
• Develop team members and implement succession planning.
• Conduct disciplinary and grievance interviews in line with procedure.
• Monitor sickness absence and conduct return-to-work interviews.
• Control time and attendance systems and monitor attendance.
• Provide regular feedback on performance and highlight improvements.
• Plan manpower with overtime and agency workers for efficient shift operation.
• Enforce company policies and procedures and manage training for health and safety reps.
• Support management with ad-hoc duties within the warehouse function.

Job Description

Asa Warehouse ShiftManageryou will contribute to the success of the site by supporting theOperationsManagerin the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuringall aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard in order to meet contractual KPI’s.

This is a full time, permanent role, working the hours of Monday - Friday,1400-2200

Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Manager:

• Manage and motivate the shift teamin order toensure that productivity and service KPI’sare achievedor exceeded.
• Ensure the highest possible levels of health, safety and hygieneare upheldso that legislative and quality requirements can be complied with, ensuring relevant paperworkis completedand retained.
• Ensuring the highest levels of Quality and complianceare maintainedand that the site operates to the Audit standard required.
• Deliver communication briefings so that allshiftsare aware of all Company and local issues and employeesare able tooffer input / improvements and feel involved.
• Manage Goods Inwards area to ensure that receiptsare madequickly and without damaging goods so that stock is available to satisfy orders.
• Develop all team members so that their contributions to the Warehouse can be maximised and succession plan.
• Carry outdisciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations in line with Company procedure.
• Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with Company policy andcarry outreturn to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor and control time and attendance system.
• To offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlightinggood performanceand areas for further development.
• Man powerplanning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost effectively run the shift.
• Enforce and adhere all Company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and control training for teams, ensuring the correct amount of health & safety representation on shift, i.e. First Aiders, Fire Marshallsetc.
• SupportManagementin any ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse function.
