Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, is seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager to support the Operations Manager in daily warehouse operations. You will ensure health and safety standards, oversee picking and dispatch to meet contractual KPIs, and lead a shift team on a 4 on, 4 off nights schedule from 18:00 to 06:00.

This full-time role requires strong team leadership, robust HSE practices, and experience with warehouse systems (WMS) and IT tools.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse operational experience.
• Experience in managing, supporting and motivating a large team.
• Proven experience of people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters.
• Experience of managing teams and prioritising a tight and challenging workload.
• Knowledge and experience of safe working practice incl. Health and Safety elements.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Good IT skills, Microsoft packages and WMS.
• Previous 3PL experience is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and motivate the shift team to achieve or exceed productivity and service KPIs.
• Ensure high levels of health, safety and hygiene and complete relevant paperwork.
• Maintain quality and compliance to audit standards.
• Deliver briefings so shifts are aware of company and local issues and can input improvements.
• Manage Goods Inwards to ensure quick, damage-free receipts and stock availability.
• Develop team members and implement succession planning.
• Carry out disciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations per company procedure.
• Monitor sickness absence and conduct return-to-work interviews.
• Oversee time and attendance systems.
• Provide feedback on performance and development opportunities.
• Plan manpower, overtime and agency staffing for efficient operation.
• Enforce company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate training and health & safety representation on shift.
• Support management with ad-hoc duties in the warehouse.

Job Description

As a Warehouse Shift Manager you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard in order to meet contractual KPI’s.

This is a full time, permanent role, working the hours of 4 on 4 off nights,18.00-06.00

Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Manager:

• Manage and motivate the shift team in order to ensure that productivity and service KPI’s are achieved or exceeded.
• Ensure the highest possible levels of health, safety and hygiene are upheld so that legislative and quality requirements can be complied with, ensuring relevant paperwork is completed and retained.
• Ensuring the highest levels of Quality and compliance are maintained and that the site operates to the Audit standard required.
• Deliver communication briefings so that all shifts are aware of all Company and local issues and employees are able to offer input / improvements and feel involved.
• Manage Goods Inwards area to ensure that receipts are made quickly and without damaging goods so that stock is available to satisfy orders.
• Develop all team members so that their contributions to the Warehouse can be maximised and succession plan.
• Carry out disciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations in line with Company procedure.
• Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with Company policy and carry out return to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor and control time and attendance system.
• To offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
• Man power planning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost effectively run the shift.
• Enforce and adhere all Company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and control training for teams, ensuring the correct amount of health & safety representation on shift, i.e. First Aiders, Fire Marshalls etc.
• Support Management in any ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse function.
