Job summary

Smiths News is recruiting for a Warehouse Packer and Driver (3.5 Tonne) with van provided. Immediate starts. £13.98 per hour, full-time night shift with rest days Thursday and Friday.

A valid UK driving licence (minimum 2 years, up to 6 penalty points) and ability to lift heavy items are required. You will look after distribution and returns, sorting, packing and preparing newspapers and magazines for delivery.

Qualifications

• Must have valid UK Photo-card driving licence.
• Able to lift and move heavy items.
• Willing to work night shifts and full-time.
• Experience loading/unloading deliveries is a plus.

• Label, sort and pack parcels for dispatch to ensure timely delivery.
• Load/unload deliveries and drive a 3.5 tonne delivery van.

About the role

As a Warehouse Operative, you’ll look after distribution and returns. You’ll sort, pack, and return newspapers and magazines with precision
and speed, making sure everything reaches its destination on time and in perfect condition. You’ll be hands-on with labelling, sorting, and packing so each parcel is ready to go. Whether you’re unloading deliveries or tying bundles for the next part of the journey, your work will directly impact retailer satisfaction. You’ll be the kind of person who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment as you load, unload and navigate deliveries. If you’re motivated to meet and exceed targets, confident driving a 3.5 tonne delivery van and able to lift and move heavy items, this is the role for you.
