Job description

We are looking for a proactive, organised and customer-focused

Returns & Support Coordinator to join our client's team in Thatcham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in returns, stock control or warehouse operations who enjoys a varied, hands‑on role combining customer service, inventory management and technical product support.

Full training will be provided, with exciting opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and progress into repairs and technical support.

The Role

Working closely with the Technical Support Supervisor, you will take ownership of the returns process, manage spare parts stock and provide day‑to‑day support to retailers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the returns process from start to finish, including booking in items, inspecting returned products, checking warranty status and arranging replacements.
  • Responding to retailer enquiries by email, handling queries relating to returns, spare parts and orders, with occasional telephone contact.
  • Processing spare parts orders and picking, packing and dispatching items accurately and efficiently.
  • Assessing returned equipment and determining whether it should be returned to stock, sold as B‑stock or dismantled for spare parts.
  • Maintaining an organised spare parts storage system, ensuring items are clearly labelled, accurately recorded and easy to locate.
  • Reviewing existing stock and spare parts to identify items to retain, salvage or scrap.
  • Recording returns and stock movements accurately using SAP and completing regular stock checks.
  • Developing product knowledge to provide basic troubleshooting advice to retailers and customers.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be organised, practical and confident communicating with customers, with a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to their work.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in returns, stock control or a warehouse environment.
  • Customer service experience, preferably dealing with retailers or trade customers via email.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to manage a busy inbox.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate stock records.
  • The confidence to make informed decisions independently once trained.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Windows‑based systems, and the ability to learn new software.
  • A willingness to develop technical product knowledge, with full training provided.
  • The ability to lift, pack and move boxed telescopes, mounts and other optical equipment. Reasonable adjustments will be considered.

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience using SAP or a similar stock management system.
  • An interest or experience in mechanical repairs, electronics or other hands‑on technical work.
  • An interest in astronomy, telescopes or optical equipment.

This is more than just a returns and stock role. As your knowledge and confidence grow, there will be opportunities to develop into technical support and, longer term, equipment repairs involving telescopes and mounts.

Previous repair experience is welcome but not essential, as training and development will be provided.

What's on Offer?
  • Monday to Friday working hours, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
  • 25 days annual holiday allowance.
  • Full training and ongoing development.
  • The opportunity to build technical skills and progress within a specialist business.
  • A varied role combining customer service, stock management and practical technical work.
