Job summary

BAKO Group Limited is seeking a Warehouse Operative at our Preston site. You will unload and load vehicles, replenish stock, and ensure accurate picking across ambient, freezer and chiller zones.

You will monitor temperatures, follow H&S guidelines, and operate MHE safely while contributing to a clean, well-organised warehouse and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Warehouse experience within a distribution environment is essential.
• Ability to work in ambient, freezer and chiller areas.
• Counterbalance forklift licence required or in training.
• H&S training or awareness is valued.

Responsibilities

• Unload/load vehicles and replenish stock according to supervisor instructions.
• Accurately pick and collate stock in ambient, freezer and chiller departments.
• Check goods inwards and monitor vehicle temperatures prior to loading/unloading.
• Operate handling equipment safely and competently.
• Carry out hygiene and cleaning duties as directed by the manager.

Salary : £32,408 - £37,091 per annum

Purpose of Job

Unloading/Loading Vehicles, replenishing stock, Stock rotation and Collating/Picking Customer orders & all associated cleaning duties.

Main Duties

• To carry out given duties/instructions by shift supervisor
• Accurately picking and collating stock in all departments Ambient, Freezer & Chiller.
• Checking in goods inwards.
• Checking vehicle temperatures before loading/Unloading.
• Loading/Unloading of vehicles in line with given instructions.
• Use of mechanical handling equipment in daily duties in safe and competent manner.
• To carry out any hygiene/maintenance related duty, or any other task deemed appropriate by the manager/shift supervisor in any part of the site.
• These together with all other duties associated with the effective and efficient running of the Warehouse area and other related areas.

• Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
• Promptly report any hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses to your line manager or the Health & Safety team.
• Cooperate with management on all matters relating to health and safety, including attending mandatory training and following issued guidance or instructions.
• Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and as instructed to minimise risk.
• Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the identification and control of workplace hazards.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety by actively engaging in health and safety initiatives and suggestions.
