Job summary

Gategroup is hiring a Warehouse Operative on a fixed-term basis (until 31 January 2027) with the possibility to go permanent. The role follows a 4 on, 2 off roster from 11:30am to 7:30pm, with overtime at 1.5x. Onsite benefits include free meals, free uniform, parking, pension, life insurance, and sick pay.

You will support production by packing and quality checking in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a High School education, good English both written and spoken, and be able to

Job Overview

Regular roster of 4 on 2 off shift, availability for 11:30am - 7:30pm, Overtime rate of 1.5, Free onsite parking, complimentary meals and refreshments, free uniform, free life insurance, company sick pay, pension scheme. Starting ASAP subject to referencing.

As a Food Packer you will support the operations by completing all assigned tasks in a timely manner while ensuring quality and meeting the required targets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To follow all operating procedures in the course of your duties to the best of your abilities.
• To ensure the work area is kept safe and as clean as possible.
• Maintain high standards of quality, hygiene, health and safety in line with customer/company specifications
• To ensure that the standards of cleanliness and house-keeping are within the guidelines laid down in the Company procedures.
• To report all accidents and take the necessary preventative action.
• To be able to communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally at all levels.
• To ensure that relevant entries are made in the diary log and that the log is checked at the beginning of each shift.
• To be totally flexible within the role and within the unit departments.
• Carry out quality checks with improvement action when required.
• Assist in follow-up of Quality Assurance/Health & Safety reports.
• To take on any other duties as and when required

SPECIFIC DUTIES BY DEPARTMENT

PRODUCTION

• Pack food liners in accordance with written specification.
• From specification, accurately make up sample and product for all classes.
• Conduct temperature, quality, and product date checks.
• Seal flight canisters, trolleys and record numbers.
• Ensure correct marshalling of flights to Dispatch bays in assigned stowing order

BOND

• The receipt, handling and appropriate storage of all incoming goods and coordinating / managing stock.
• Sort and assemble bars into flights, working as a team to achieve targets
• To check trolley seals and cross check with customs paper work

DISHWASH

• General washing, sorting, assembling, packing and positioning of the aircraft equipment
• Process and strip trolleys and deliver to relevant department
• Off loading and sorting equipment/food and ensuring it is delivered to the correct processing area

Qualifications:

Education

• Educated to High School level.

Work Experience

• Good standard of English both written and verbal
• Working knowledge of of Basic Hygiene
• Ideally some experience in a production/manufacturing/stores environment
• Experience of working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.

Skills & Knowledge

• Good understanding of English both reading and writing
• Positive attitude to work
• Able to work to tight deadlines

Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role is desirable but not essential. You must be able to work shifts and be keen to learn. In addition to job - related training, you will develop your skills in team work, time management, multi-tasking, communication and attention to detail.
