Qualifications

Job description

OA are recruiting for a Warehouse Operative to join our client’s busy Central Logistics operation.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new site at an early stage, playing a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of a high-volume warehouse handling medical and healthcare products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate receipt of goods, safe storage, order picking, packing and preparing products for despatch in line with strict operational, quality and safety procedures.

Location: Birmingham

Hours: This is a shift-based role with either a morning or afternoon start, scheduled between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Initially, shifts will run Monday to Friday, before transitioning to Sunday through Friday. Each shift is 8 hours, with an unpaid 30min lunch break.

Salary: £13.10 per hour. £25,545 per year

Warehouse Operative Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately receive, store, pick, pack and despatch products in line with SOPs and quality standards
  • Operate automated warehouse systems, handheld scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles manually or using material handling equipment (FLT/MHE)
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy when picking and processing orders to meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Carry out regular inventory checks and support effective stock rotation (FEFO – First Expired, First Out)
  • Identify damaged, missing or incorrect stock and take corrective action
  • Palletise goods safely to ensure secure transportation
  • Achieve agreed productivity targets and KPIs
  • Promote a safe, legal and compliant working environment at all times
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with training new team members where required.
Warehouse Operative Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience within a warehouse or logistics environment is advantageous
  • Good time management with the ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Good verbal communication skills with basic written and numeracy ability
  • Confident using computers, handheld devices and warehouse systems
  • FLT licence desirable but not essential, as training can be provided
  • Flexible attitude to working hours, shifts and operational demands
