Job summary

Culina in Chorley is seeking an Operations Controller to join our Contract division on a full-time permanent basis. The role focuses on day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring outbound loads and inbound receipts run to schedule, with hours 10am–6pm, Monday to Friday.

You will help manage drivers, issue instructions to staff, maintain paperwork accuracy, and support continuous improvement with experienced leaders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within a similar fast-paced role.
• Ability to prioritise work based on scheduling and resources.
• PC literate in Word, Excel and Outlook with attention to detail.
• Must be a team player capable of working on your own initiative.
• Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of on-site systems.
• Experience and knowledge of Autostore and RF kit.
• Strong communication skills and professional attitude toward customers/hauliers.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently managing the outbound schedule to meet collection and delivery times.
• Issuing instructions to staff to maintain smooth inbound/outbound flow.
• Control paperwork for outbound vehicles with 100% accuracy.
• Be the first point of contact for drivers arriving on site.
• Communicate issues to Shift Managers promptly to minimise disruption.
• Contribute to the operations team and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality.
• Maintain good liaison with transport providers to avoid late collections or failed deliveries.
• Provide thorough handovers to the next shift highlighting issues and current state.

As part of our, Contract division, we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Operations Controller to at our Chorley site on a full time permanent basis.

Salary: £27,264 per annum.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm.

As the WarehouseOperations Controller, you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring that all schedules for inbound receipts and outbound loads are run efficiently.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career within warehousing and logistics. It is an ideal stepping stone for someone aspiring to progress into Warehouse Supervisory or Warehouse Management positions in the future.

You will gain valuable experience in operational processes, people management, customer service, compliance, and performance management while working alongside experienced leaders who will support your professional development.

Responsibilities of the Warehouse Operations Controller include:

• Efficiently managing the outbound schedule to ensure collection and delivery times are met.
• Issuing instructions to designated staff to maintain a smooth flow of inbound and outbound work.
• Controlling paperwork for outbound vehicles, ensuring 100% accuracy.
• Being the initial point of contact for all drivers arriving on site.
• Communicating issues to Shift Managers in a timely manner to minimise disruption to the schedule.
• Participating as an active member of the operations team, and to offer suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, customer and quality focus.
• Maintaining good communication with transport providers to ensure late collections and delivery failures are avoided.
• Producing a thorough, detailed handover to the following shift highlighting potential issues, reminders and current state of play.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within a similar fast-paced role.
• Ability to prioritise work based on scheduling and available resources.
• PC literate in Word, Excel and Outlook with the ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
• Must be a team player who is capable of working on your own initiative.
• Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of on-site systems.
• Experience and good working knowledge of Autostore and RF kit.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to demonstrate a courteous and professional attitude towards customers and third party hauliers.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to solve problems.
