Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding (UK) Limited invites applications for a warehouse operations apprenticeship in a busy DHL site. You will assist team leaders, learn health & safety policies, and gain hands-on experience with warehouse systems, scanners and packing for dispatch.

The 24-month fixed-term contract is supported by SEETEC as the training provider, with Monday–Friday hours and a pathway to a permanent role subject to vacancy availability and performance.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or higher.
• Strong communication and IT literacy.
• Ability to learn health & safety policies and use warehouse systems.

Introduction

Supporting the warehouse & operations team, in a warehouse environment, learning transport planning, warehouse duties, customer service, import & export processes, security & aviation compliance, health & safety, transportation of goods in the UK.

What You'll Do

• Supporting warehouse team leaders in daily operations
• Learning health & safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments, and assisting Health & Safety representatives
• Gaining experience across multiple internal and external systems
• Understanding aviation cargo security requirements
• Carrying out cargo screening activities
• Learning correct load securing techniques
• Using warehouse management systems
• Completing general housekeeping duties within the warehouse
• Using scanners and stock control equipment
• Packing and preparing goods for dispatch
• Supporting warehouse improvement projects
• Identifying cargo and correctly preparing it for export via different transport modes
• Using mechanical equipment
• Carrying out equipment checks and defect reporting procedures
• Identifying and resolving operational issues

Training Outcome

• The Apprenticeship will initially be a 24 month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with the aim that Apprentices either move onto a further Apprenticeship or a permanent role within the business – subject to a suitable vacancy being available and in line with the selection process for the role
