Job summary

The Opportunity

Travis Talent is recruiting a Warehouse Manager on behalf of an established manufacturing client in Rotherham. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the safe, organised and efficient running of a busy warehouse operation supporting production, fabrication and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management, organisation and security of the warehouse.
• Lead and support office-based, warehouse and field-based employees, allocating workloads and resources to meet departmental priorities.
• Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews and manage attendance, timekeeping, holidays, overtime, expenses and timesheets.
• Handle employee relations matters professionally, including absence management, disciplinary processes, grievances and conflict resolution.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development, creating a positive and productive working environment.
• Ensure all health, safety and environmental requirements, company procedures and safe working practices are consistently followed.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised warehouse and production environment.
• Oversee vehicle unloading, goods receipt, material booking, storage, picking, labelling, fabrication support and despatch.
• Plan and monitor production and assembly activity, ensuring materials are processed and moved to the appropriate work areas.
• Check completed work against cutting lists and project requirements, recording and resolving missing or incorrect items before despatch.
• Ensure finished products are palletised, clearly labelled and allocated to the correct project ready for delivery.

Stock Control and Logistics

• Receive supplier deliveries, inspect for discrepancies and book goods accurately into the AX system.
• Ensure project-specific materials are clearly identified, correctly allocated and stored in designated locations.
• Manage stock control and coordinate twice-yearly stock checks.
• Liaise with purchasing to ensure materials are available in line with production and project deadlines.
• Coordinate with design, installers and site managers regarding drawings, delivery schedules and site requirements.
• Prepare completed projects for despatch and ensure vehicles are loaded accurately and safely.
• Confirm deliveries leave on time with the correct products, paperwork, site details and delivery instructions.

Leadership and Operational Improvement

• Hold regular team meetings and weekly briefings to review upcoming projects, allocate work and address safety or operational issues.
• Maintain regular communication with maintenance technicians, providing guidance and helping to resolve issues arising during works.
• Work closely with the Operations Director, raising operational risks promptly and supporting change and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Remain flexible during peak workloads and provide reasonable overtime support where required.

About You

• Proven management experience within a warehouse, manufacturing, production or similarly practical operational environment.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety, ideally including experience relevant to construction or project-led manufacturing.
• Confident managing people, performance, workloads and competing operational priorities.
• Able to work under pressure, self-manage effectively and maintain high standards of accuracy and organisation.
• A practical, flexible approach with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments and site teams.
• Basic computer skills and experience using stock or business systems.
• A valid forklift licence and driving licence.
• Relevant warehouse, production or practical qualifications would be advantageous.
