The Warehouse Manager Role at BBF

The Warehouse Manager will provide leadership and management support to the warehouse teams based at both the Blackburn and Shadsworth Bakery sites.

They will work to ensure the successful delivery of professional inbound, stock holding, and outbound processes to appropriately service the bakeries while maintaining a safe working environment, compliance with required standards, and providing the necessary support to direct reports and cross-functional colleagues.

Who are we looking for?
  • Previous experience managing warehouse operations within a similar-sized food manufacturing environment.
  • Management experience in Health and Safety, food safety, and GMP compliance.
  • Demonstrable understanding of stock management and WMS systems (preferred).
  • Strong people management and influencing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset and a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • Able to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and stay objective under pressure.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of ERP systems and Excel.
The Role of Warehouse Manager at BBF
  • Maintain and continuously improve all aspects of health and safety, food safety, and GMP.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all racking, FLTs, and storage areas, ensuring all safety checks are completed in line with HSE guidelines.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the yard, storage, systems, and vehicle management processes.
  • Drive waste and cost reduction through minimizing damages and operational errors.
  • Work closely with operations and site teams to ensure smooth movement of goods in and out of the factory.
  • Attend daily and weekly site review meetings, ensuring actions are clearly communicated and delivered to conclusion.
  • Resolve service-impacting issues effectively, both internally and externally.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain and 3PLs on transport requirements to ensure alignment with production plans.
  • Ensure all vehicle temperature checks and inspection sheets are completed to the required standards.
  • Accurately process all incoming and outgoing paperwork into the ERP system, collaborating with Finance to resolve any invoice discrepancies.
  • Monitor and maintain stock storage locations within the ERP system, ensuring correct batch/date is shown and transfers to external storage are timely and accurate.
  • Identify and resolve stock date and batch rotation issues collaboratively.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and support to build a high-performing, multi-skilled warehouse team.
  • Set up and maintain warehouse KPIs, ensuring accurate reporting and performance tracking.
  • Manage the CHEP pallet system, including stock counts and reporting requirements.
  • Lead and complete all scheduled and ad hoc stock counts, reporting results, and investigating/resolving variances.
