Job summary

Phoenix Steel is seeking an Apprentice Process Operator / Warehouse Person to learn and perform processing of customer materials according to our Quality Procedures. You will gain hands-on experience while working with experienced staff at the company site.

As an apprentice, you’ll receive regular training, spend at least 20% of hours in study, and work toward the Supply chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, with training on-site.

Qualifications

• GCSE English (Grade 4) essential.
• GCSE Maths (Grade 4) essential.
• An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
• Working towards Supply chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard. Training will take place at employer's site.

Responsibilities

• Receive information on customer material requirements and process according to Quality Procedures.
• Operate cutting machinery (band saws, guillotines, decoilers).
• Move material using overhead cranes and fork trucks (training provided).
• Manually handle steel as required and maintain safety and quality standards.

Job description

Working independently and as part of a team, the role is: Apprentice Process operator / Warehouse person. The job entails receiving information on customer material requirements and subsequently processing the material according to our Quality Procedures.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What You'll do at Work

• The job entails receiving information on customer material requirements and subsequently processing the material according to our Quality Procedures
• Main duties include operating a variety of cutting machinery, including band saws, guillotines and decoilers
• To move material use of overhead cranes and fork trucks will be required (we will provide training)
• In addition the job will require a certain level of physical exertion as steel will need to be manually handled at times and is heavy
• Referring to quality procedures will be required and quality checks will need to be implemented at all parts of the process
• This ensures all staff work to the same standards and improvements can be quickly and uniformly implemented
