Barker Ross Group is seeking a Multi-Skilled Operative for a Wakefield cold-store warehouse role. You will operate a counterbalance forklift, move stock and support daily warehouse tasks in a -20°C environment.

The position offers temp-to-perm prospects, overtime opportunities, and ongoing training. A strong safety focus and teamwork are essential.

Multi-Skilled Operative - Cold Store / Warehouse

Location: Wakefield, WF3

Pay: £13.71 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm

Shifts : 13.30-22.00

Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team in Wakefield.

The role involves operating a counterbalance forklift, moving and organising stock, and supporting daily warehouse operations within a cold storage environment (-20 degrees). The successful candidate must work safely, pay attention to detail and be a good team player.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a counterbalance forklift to move, load and unload stock.
• Store and retrieve goods accurately within the warehouse and cold store.
• Assist with stock checks, labelling and inventory records.
• Follow health and safety procedures and complete daily equipment checks.
• Wear the correct PPE when working in cold storage areas.
• Support general warehouse duties, including packing, sorting and preparing orders for dispatch.
• Work as part of a team to meet daily targets.

Skills and Requirements

• Valid Counterbalance (B1) forklift licence - essential.
• Previous warehouse or cold store experience preferred.
• Comfortable working in cold temperatures.
• Good attention to detail and a strong focus on safety.
• Physically fit and able to carry out warehouse duties.
• Reliable, flexible and able to work well within a team.Willing to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends if required.
