Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting for a Band 6 coordinator to support daily ward coordination, patient flow, and discharge activities within the Telford Elective Surgery Hub.

The role involves assisting the Department Manager, acting up to Band 7 in their absence, and ensuring staff are trained, standards maintained, and audits completed as part of the unit’s operations.

Qualifications

• Experience at NHS Band 6 level or equivalent.

Job Overview

The Telford Elective Surgery Hub requires a band 6 to support with daily coordination of the ward, admissions, recovery and discharges of the patients on the Elective Hub. There needs to be a coordinator to support with the flow of the ward. The additional band 6 will also support with maintaining standards, training and audits for the unit.

Main duties of the job

• To assist the Dept Manager in the daily management of the department.
• To act up to the Band 7 in the absence of the Manager.
• In conjunction with the department manager, be responsible for the day to day supervision of the ward/department, effectively motivating and directing staff to ensure that time and resources are managed through effective teamwork.
• To organise the team on a daily basis deploying staff appropriately according to their skills and experience.
• To support and ensure all staff training is up to date.

Our Service will relocate to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in 2028 as part of HTP. This move will bring specialist services together in a modern, purpose-built facility to improve patient care and team experience.

We are actively recruiting, and successful candidates will be expected to move with the Service in early 2028. The relocation will follow a formal management of change process, including full consultation and support for staff.
