Job summary

Practice Plus Group Plymouth is seeking an experienced Ward Shift Leader to oversee a 30-bed inpatient ward serving post-operative arthroplasty and other orthopaedic patients. You will act as clinical lead, coordinating the multidisciplinary team and ensuring high standards of patient care and confidentiality.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week with day and night shifts (07:30-20:00 and 19:30-08:00).

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse with ongoing professional development.
• Teaching and assessment qualification or capability.
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
• Extensive post-registration surgical experience in multiple specialties.
• Ability to manage and plan a team’s work effectively.
• Ability to teach/train nursing staff.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexible, positive attitude to a range of duties.

Responsibilities

• Act as clinical lead, guiding the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide clear, consistent communication to the team.
• Plan the week with a stable schedule for patient care.
• Collaborate with the Practice Plus Group medical team while protecting patient confidentiality.
• Teach and train team members and share best practices across the site.
