We are searching to recruit a senior experienced nurse, with a track record of leadership & developing clinical teams. Someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, committed and passionate about elderly care to join our dynamic clinical teams at Northumbria Healthcare.
Ward 1 Care of the Elderly Unit Rehabilitation Unit is part of the Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit.
The Unit consists of 10 in-patient beds, currently moving to 24 in the new hospital build. The ward aims to provide evidence-based multidisciplinary care with a focus on rehabilitation and palliative care for frail older persons, including comprehensive elderly assessment.
The goal of care on the ward is to support patients on their recovery journey, aiming for them to return home or transition to further care in the community.
The Ward Manager role includes responsibility and accountability for the daily management of the ward, demonstrating excellent leadership skills and enthusiasm for staff and service development. The post holder should demonstrate professional attributes such as diversity, adaptability, and the ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
We seek a dynamic, highly motivated, and passionate nurse committed to delivering high-quality patient care. The post requires flexibility, expertise in supporting high standards of nursing care within the acute medical pathway, and excellent clinical leadership and communication skills across the multidisciplinary team.
Our services include managing three major hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick-on-Tweed, and the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital—the first of its kind in England. We also provide home care and community services, emphasizing patient choice and independence, with a focus on high-quality care and exceptional patient experiences.
The Ward Manager will be responsible for coordinating continuous clinical care within allocated resources, ensuring quality and high standards for all patients in the area.
Additional responsibilities include managing human resources issues, acting as Budget Holder for the ward, and exercising accountability as per the NMC Code of Conduct.
The role also involves role modeling compassionate, inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture within the trust, engaging, enabling, and empowering staff, promoting ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitating teamwork across organizational boundaries.
