Leadership Opportunity at Merseycare

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Merseycare's complex care division to manage Fern Ward, an older person's, mixed sex dementia care unit at Leigh Moss Hospital. Candidates should have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to challenge, motivate, influence, and inspire colleagues at all levels, with an understanding of leading and managing an acute inpatient ward.

The post holder will carry managerial responsibility over a 24-hour period, overseeing the performance and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and person-centred care. They will operate as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team and be flexible in delivering care within the ward setting.

We offer specialist inpatient and community services supporting physical health, mental health, learning disability, addiction, and brain injury. Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide effective leadership and management to the designated team.
  2. Formulate and implement local clinical and operational practices and procedures.
  3. Represent the Operational Business Manager/Modern Matron at meetings as required.
  4. Ensure effective deployment of staff and resources to meet service standards.
  5. Participate in recruitment and selection processes.
  6. Ensure effective induction and exit interviews for staff.
  7. Implement, monitor, and update operational policies and philosophies.
  8. Maintain high-quality service based on clinical standards and principles of Clinical Governance.
  9. Ensure adherence to Effective Care Coordination policies.
  10. Ensure staff understand and follow Trust policies and procedures.
  11. Develop protocols to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  12. Lead staff participation in service improvement initiatives.
  13. Adhere to Managing Performance and Attendance policies.
