Job summary

Hospiscare Group in Exeter is seeking a Ward Manager to lead our Inpatient Unit, driving high-quality palliative and end-of-life care. The role emphasises leadership, teamwork and staff development.

This Band 7 post is 37 hours per week, over 5 days in 7, with a starting salary of £49,387 per annum. You will use advanced clinical judgement to support patient safety and a first-class patient experience.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in palliative care or related subject.
• Significant post-registration experience in palliative and end-of-life care.
• Experience leading and managing teams, coaching and mentoring colleagues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for developing junior staff and helping others reach potential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the Inpatient Unit team to deliver compassionate, person-centred palliative and end-of-life care.
• Ensure patient safety, quality of care and positive patient experience across the unit.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to improve service delivery.
• Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced palliative care nurse to play a key role in leading our Inpatient Unit team and making a real difference to patient safety, quality of care, and the overall patient experience.

Using your advanced clinical judgement, specialist knowledge, and leadership skills, you will inspire and support the team to deliver outstanding palliative and end-of-life care. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will help create an environment where patients and their families receive compassionate, person-centred care when they need it most.

You will bring a degree-level qualification in palliative care or a related subject, together with evidence of ongoing professional development. Significant post-registration experience in palliative and end-of-life care is essential, as is experience of leading and managing teams, coaching and mentoring colleagues, and facilitating clinical supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key, along with a passion for supporting the development of junior staff and helping others achieve their potential.
