Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a bank staff nurse to join a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality care. You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care for acutely ill patients, work with the ward team, and, after the foundation gateway, take charge of a ward for a duty period.

The role requires current NMC registration and recent clinical nursing experience, with a focus on patient safety, documentation and compassionate care in line with Trust

Qualifications

• Sound clinical nursing knowledge and a good understanding of nursing issues and clinical governance.
• Awareness of own limitations.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team and carry out tasks delegated by ward manager or charge nurse.
• Take charge of a ward or department for a span of duty after completing the foundation gateway.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment, set nursing priorities, plan patient care and inform the nurse in charge of changes.
• Keep nursing records in line with NMC and Trust guidelines.
• Involve patients and carers in planning and delivering care, and inform them of changes in condition.
• Respect patients’ customs, values and spiritual beliefs.
• Assist with the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs.
• Develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients.
• Undertake expanded practice under supervision, in line with policies.
• Contribute to quality of care through Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit.
• Ensure effective lines of communication within the multidisciplinary team.
