Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join the inpatient team at West Berkshire Community Hospital. You will help maintain a clean, safe ward environment and support infection prevention, nutrition and stock management, working alongside nursing, domestic, catering and estates teams.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours) on-site, with weekday and weekend shifts. No direct clinical care is required and training is provided to support patient experience and ward

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
• Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to undertake.
• Infection control training or willingness to undertake.
• NVQ or Apprenticeship training relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable ward environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Support infection prevention and control standards by monitoring cleanliness and liaising with domestic teams regarding routine, deep and enhanced cleaning requirements.
• Coordinate and support patient meal services.
• Maintain ward stocks, including stores, food and linen, ensuring supplies are available to meet patient needs.
• Ensure patient areas, equipment and ward environments are clean, tidy and well maintained, reporting maintenance or environmental concerns appropriately.
• Assist with collecting patient feedback and supporting a positive patient experience on the ward.
• Work flexibly to support the changing needs of the ward and service.

Education

English and Maths GCSE or equivalent

Food Hygiene certificate/ willing to undertake

Infection control training/ willing to undertake
