Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join our inpatient ward team at West Berkshire Community Hospital. You will help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming ward environment, supporting infection prevention, patient meals and stock management while collaborating with nursing, therapy, domestic, catering and estates teams.

The successful candidate will be reliable, organised and flexible, with strong people skills.

Qualifications

Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and organise your own workload.
Basic IT skills and willingness to use digital systems.
A caring, sensitive and compassionate attitude towards patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable ward environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Support infection prevention and control standards by monitoring cleanliness and liaising with domestic teams regarding cleaning requirements.
Coordinate and support patient meal services.
Maintain ward stocks, including stores, food and linen, ensuring supplies are available to meet patient needs.
Ensure patient areas, equipment and ward environments are clean, tidy and well maintained, reporting maintenance or environmental concerns appropriately.
Assist with collecting patient feedback and supporting a positive patient experience on the ward.
Work flexibly to support the changing needs of the ward and service.
