Job summary

Douglas Macmillan Hospice is seeking a compassionate Ward Clerk to join our In-Patient Services team in Stoke-on-Trent. The role is 37.5 hours per week, with potential for part-time consideration for the right candidate, and involves handling patient records, enquiries and administrative duties to keep the 28-bedded unit running smoothly.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, families and professionals, with emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in administrative/clerical tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic systems.
• Strong organisational skills and accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for patients, relatives, visitors and the team.
• Manage ward enquiries and relay messages to appropriate colleagues.
• Prepare and maintain patient records for admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Process correspondence and clinical information with confidentiality.
• Co-ordinate appointments, discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Keep ward information and supplies up to date and support the team.
