Sodexo, based at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, is seeking a Ward Catering Supervisor to lead high-quality patient catering for people on site. You’ll inspire a team and ensure consistently excellent service in a busy, caring environment.

You’ll supervise ward catering staff, allocate duties, manage rotas, support dietary requirements and allergen controls, and maintain records to support safety and reporting. This is a permanent, full-time role with a 5 from 7 pattern (mostly Monday–Friday).

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory role within healthcare, hospitality or catering.
• Good knowledge of food safety and allergen management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent organisation and time-management abilities.
• Proactive approach to maintaining standards and records.

Responsabilités

• Lead and support the day-to-day ward catering service, ensuring patients, visitors and colleagues receive a safe, high-quality and welcoming experience.
• Supervise and motivate ward catering teams, allocating duties, supporting rotas and ensuring standards.
• Oversee preparation, presentation and service of meals and beverages, including dietary requirements and allergen management.
• Monitor standards across ward catering and related service areas, carrying out checks and taking action as needed.
• Maintain accurate food safety, temperature, stock, wastage and service records for reporting.
• Work with hospital management to resolve issues and ensure timely, safe service.
• Provide administrative support when the Business Manager is out of the office.
• Support a positive customer-focused culture by handling feedback professionally.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and support the day-to-day ward catering service, ensuring patients, visitors and colleagues receive a safe, high-quality and welcoming experience.
• Supervise and motivate ward catering teams, allocating duties, supporting rotas and ensuring everyone works to the required standards.
• Oversee the preparation, presentation and service of meals and beverages, including supporting patients with dietary requirements and allergen management.
• Monitor standards across ward catering and related service areas, carrying out checks and taking action where improvements are needed.
• Maintain accurate food safety, temperature, stock, wastage and service records, using systems to support effective reporting.
• Work closely with hospital management and other teams to resolve issues, respond to requests and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
• Provide administrative support while Business Manager is out of office
• Support a positive customer-focused culture by handling feedback professionally, promoting excellent service and helping the team deliver a consistently high standard of care

What you bring:

• Experience in a supervisory role within healthcare, hospitality, catering or a similar customer-focused environment.
• A genuine commitment to providing excellent service and creating a positive experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Good knowledge of food safety, health and safety, infection prevention and control, and allergen management.
• Confident leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop a diverse team.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm in a busy hospital environment.
• Good attention to detail, with a proactive approach to maintaining standards, identifying risks and resolving issues.
• Basic to intermediate IT skills and the confidence to maintain records, use ordering/reporting systems and communicate effectively by email and telephone.
