Job summary

Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital in Brighton is seeking a Ward Catering Assistant to join Sodexo. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals for patients, maintain hygiene, and support a safe kitchen and dining environment.

The role emphasizes patient service, teamwork and compliance with food safety standards. The role is part-time (18 hours per week) with a shift pattern of 3 days out of 7, a salary of £12.81 per hour, parking on-site, meals on shift and uniform provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn.
• A positive, reliable and caring approach with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
• Good communication and listening skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
• Willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve this.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients with dignity and care.
• Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals, including special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention.
• Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation.
• Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
• Support stock rotation, waste reduction and safe transportation of food trolleys.
• Work as part of a team, following instructions and assisting with other duties.
