Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting for a Ward Host Supervisor based at Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital. You will lead ward catering, supervise staff, and ensure safe, high-quality service for patients, staff and visitors.

You will manage dietary requirements, allergen controls and food safety records while coordinating with hospital teams to maintain on-time meal delivery and a positive care experience. A permanent contract and shift pattern provide stability.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory role within healthcare, hospitality, catering or a similar customer-focused environment.
• A genuine commitment to providing excellent service and creating a positive experience for patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Good knowledge of food safety, health and safety, infection prevention and control, and allergen management.
• Confident leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop a diverse team.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm in a busy hospital environment.
• Basic to intermediate IT skills and the confidence to maintain records, use ordering/reporting systems and communicate effectively by email and telephone.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the ward catering service, ensuring patients, visitors and colleagues receive a safe, high-quality and welcoming experience.
• Supervise ward catering teams, allocating duties and supporting rotas to meet standards.
• Oversee the preparation, presentation and service of meals, including dietary needs and allergen management.
• Monitor standards and carry out checks, taking action to improve where needed.
• Maintain accurate records for food safety, temperature, stock, wastage and service using reporting systems.
• Collaborate with hospital management to resolve issues and ensure timely service.
• Provide administrative support when the Business Manager is unavailable.
• Promote a customer-focused culture by handling feedback professionally and delivering consistent care.

• Lead and support the day-to-day ward catering service, ensuring patients, visitors and colleagues receive a safe, high-quality and welcoming experience.
• Supervise and motivate ward catering teams, allocating duties, supporting rotas and ensuring everyone works to the required standards.
• Oversee the preparation, presentation and service of meals and beverages, including supporting patients with dietary requirements and allergen management.
• Monitor standards across ward catering and related service areas, carrying out checks and taking action where improvements are needed.
• Maintain accurate food safety, temperature, stock, wastage and service records, using systems to support effective reporting.
• Work closely with hospital management and other teams to resolve issues, respond to requests and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
• Provide administrative support while Business Manager is out of office

• £13.60 per hour + Sodexo Benefits
• 37.5 Hours per week
• Shift Pattern: 5 days out of 7 | mostly Monday to Friday, weekend cover as required
• Shift Times: 7 am - 3 pm, OR 12 pm 8 pm OR 1 pm - 9 pm
