Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital is recruiting a Ward Assistant through Sodexo in Eastleigh. You will help serve meals to patients, staff, and visitors, bringing a cheerful, patient-focused attitude to a busy ward environment.

The role emphasizes accurate meal preparation, hygiene, and teamwork within the catering department, with shift patterns including evenings and one weekend every four weeks.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve patient meals safely, accurately, and on time.
• Assemble meal trays, including special diets, ensuring correct meals.
• Maintain food hygiene, cleanliness, and infection prevention in kitchens and wards.
• Conduct temperature checks, stock rotation, and complete quality/safety records.
• Wash crockery and kitchen equipment; keep areas clean and organised.
• Transport food trolleys safely and provide general catering support.
• Follow all safety policies while delivering excellent service.

• Shift Pattern: 5 days out of 7 | Monday to Friday + 1 working weekend every 4 weeks

What You'll Do:

• Prepare and serve patient meals safely, accurately, and on time.
• Assemble meal trays, including special diets, ensuring each patient receives the correct meal.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and infection prevention across kitchens and ward areas.
• Carry out food temperature checks, stock rotation, and complete required quality and safety records.
• Wash crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment using dishwashing equipment and keep work areas clean and organised.
• Transport food trolleys safely and provide general support across the catering department as needed.
• Follow all food safety, health and safety, and company policies while delivering excellent service to patients and colleagues.
