Job summary

Nuffield Health Brighton Hospital is seeking a Chef to join the Sodexo team in Brighton. You will prepare high-quality meals for patients, staff and visitors, following menus and dietary requirements while upholding strict food safety and hygiene standards.

Join a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment with a permanent contract. Benefits include on-site parking, uniform supplied, and meals on shift for shifts over 6 hours.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef in quality-focused catering; healthcare experience desirable.
• Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP, allergens and health & safety requirements.
• Ability to follow recipes, manage tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow menus, recipes and dietary requirements to ensure consistently high standards.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and health and safety.
• Ensure kitchen areas are clean, safe and well organized during each shift.
• Support smooth kitchen operations and collaborate with colleagues to deliver excellent service.
• Monitor food quality and presentation, report and resolve issues promptly.
• Provide cover for colleagues when required.

• 37.5 hours per week
• Shift Pattern: 5 days out of 7, including weekends
• Shift Times: 7 am - 3 pm OR 11 am - 7 pm OR 7 am - 7 pm
• Parking on site/ Meal on shift if working 6+ hours / Uniform provided
• Permanent contract

What you’ll do:

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious and appealing food for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow menus, recipes and dietary requirements to ensure food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
• Maintain excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and health and safety.
• Ensure the kitchen and all work areas are clean, safe and well organised throughout each shift.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen and work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent service.
• Monitor food quality and presentation, reporting and resolving any issues promptly.
• Support special functions and provide cover for colleagues when require

What you bring:

• Previous experience working as a Chef in quality-focused catering environment; healthcare experience is desirable.
• A good understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergens, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• A passion for producing great-quality food and delivering an excellent experience for patients and customers.
• The ability to work efficiently, follow recipes and instructions, and manage tasks effectively.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach.
• Good organisation, reliability and attention to detail.
• A willingness to learn, develop and complete relevant training.
