Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (Band 5) to join the Medicines Optimisation Team based largely at Chippenham Community Hospital. The role is 30 hours per week across inpatient services in BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting medicines optimisation, cost-effective prescribing, and timely dispensing while delivering high-quality ward-based pharmaceutical services.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy.
• Knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics and current medicines legislation.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support safe, efficient, compliant pharmaceutical services in line with legislation and standards.
• Participate in ward-based medicines management under the pharmacist direction.
• Undertake medicines reconciliation and reviews per competencies.
• Review inpatient prescription charts for clinical verification by a pharmacist.
• Ensure timely supply of medicines and aid discharge planning.
• Maintain medicines stock control and communicate availability to staff.
• Support safe management of Controlled Drugs and storage requirements.
• Counsel patients on medicines use and possible side effects.
