Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Optimisation Team. The role supports inpatient services across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire, with the base at Savernake Community Hospital.

You will contribute to safe, cost-conscious medicines use and work within guidelines with a high degree of autonomy. The post involves responding to medication queries and collaborating with clinicians, nursing staff and patients to improve outcomes and efficiency

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician and working in medicines optimisation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support cost‑effective prescribing and medicines budget management.
• Assist with reducing medicines wastage and contribute to medicines management initiatives.
• Provide medicines-related advice to clinicians, nursing staff and patients; respond to daily medication queries with good communication.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our Medicines Optimisation Team supporting inpatient services across Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon, and Wiltshire, with the primary base at Savernake Community Hospital. This is a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and high-quality ward-based pharmacy service within a community hospital setting. You will play a vital part in supporting medicines optimisation in line with national and local policies, helping to improve patient outcomes through the safe, effective, and cost-conscious use of medicines. Key responsibilities will include supporting cost-effective prescribing, contributing to medicines budget management, reducing medicines wastage, and supporting wider medicines management and service improvement initiatives. You will work with a high degree of autonomy within agreed guidelines, using your initiative to support the delivery of the wider medicines optimisation strategy.
