Job summary
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a proactive Pharmacy Support Worker at Glasgow Royal Infirmary to ensure safe and effective medicines supply. You will label and dispense medicines for inpatients and outpatients, input ward requisitions, and support stock checks and wastage minimisation in a busy ward environment.
The role emphasises patient-facing duties, teamwork, and adherence to procedures. Full training will be provided with an 18-month on-the-job programme; weekend/public holiday
Qualifications
- General education at National 5/Standard Grade level or above
- Working towards Pharmacy SVQ knowledge
- Experience in healthcare/pharmacy or customer-facing role
- Knowledge of dispensing/supplying medication policies and procedures
- Proficient IT skills including MS Word/Excel and email
- Ability to plan and organise workload with initiative
- Experience with stock control systems and safety procedures
- Strong communication and people skills
Responsibilities
- Label and dispense medicines for inpatients and outpatients
- Input ward requisitions into the stock control system
- Participate in stock checks, stock rotation and expiry date checks
- Coordinate ward stock top-up services and support nursing staff
- Advise on stock levels and minimise waste
- Work to set procedures and participate in training
