Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Services Assistant to join the Ward Services team. The role supports patient care by coordinating medicines for wards, counselling patients, and ensuring timely delivery of medicines within a busy hospital setting.

You will work closely with pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare professionals, with a focus on safety, efficiency and compassionate care across multiple wards.

Qualifications

• NVQ/QCF Level 2 Pharmacy Service Skills Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience in hospital or community pharmacy preferred.
• Ability to work in a patient-focused ward-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a patient-facing environment to support patients with medicines.
• Order, receive and manage medicines to keep wards stocked.
• Stock management and replenishment at ward level.
• Labelling, dispensing and preparing medicines following training.
• Communicate with patients, ward staff, healthcare professionals and service users.
• Provide supervision, support and training to staff.
• Develop new skills through structured training and patient counselling opportunities.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Contribute to a safe, efficient and compassionate pharmacy service for patients.
