Job summary

Camphill Village Trust seeks a Waking Nights Support Worker to assist People We Support at Botton Village, Danby, North Yorkshire. This role focuses on autonomous, person-centred support during night hours, helping individuals fulfil independence with dignity.

You will monitor conditions, administer medication when needed, update care plans, and liaise with social workers and families while staying awake for the full shift. Driving license and own vehicle are highly beneficial.

We have an opening for you to join us as a Waking Nights Support Worker in our Botton Village Community. The purpose of the role is to provide autonomous assistance to the People We Support to fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion, and control.

You will be responsible for ensuring that care and support is of a high standard, focused on person centred outcomes and delivered within budget.

You will ensure that all needs assessments, support plans and risk assessments are kept up to date. There will also be direct engagement and liaison with social workers, family members and key workers as required.

Locations & Travel:
Botton Village (Danby, North Yorkshire)

The role will be based at Botton Village, Danby, in the North Yorkshire Moors.

To be considered for the role, you must be able to reliably travel to our site.

Please note that our Botton Village Community is quite rural, and is not accessible via public transport, so a driving license with access to your own vehicle would be extremely beneficial.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities
  • Complete daily monitoring sheets such food, fridge, freezer, medication cabinet temperatures, bowel charts, weight charts and fluid charts etc.
  • Where the appropriate registration is in place, assist with or arrange for personal care where required (for example bathing and hair washing). Please note that this may involve supporting people to the toilet, to manage incontinence, to bathe and shower etc and enable people to manage all of this, with regard for their dignity and privacy.
  • Administer, record, order, check and count medication.
  • Undertake related paperwork including support plans, daily updates, person profiles, risk assessments, incident reporting, behaviour reports and notes/updates on health appointments.
  • Complete home security checks.
  • Respond to any requests made by the People We Support, should they require assistance.
  • Complete any necessary cleaning of the home, including kitchen and bathroom.
  • Complete necessary checks throughout the night.
  • Work within the Community’s policies and procedures and code of conduct, actively promoting the equality and diversity and the human rights of the People We Support to realise independence, choice, inclusion, and control.
  • Undertake training and continuous professional development in accordance with The Care Quality Commission, local authority requirements, the needs of the service and the People We Support.
  • Work in close partnership with family members and other professionals involved in the individual’s life.
  • Undertake personal development to develop and understanding of our philosophy and values and how these inform and guide practice in the key responsibilities of the role.
  • Must stay awake throughout full duration of the shift.
