Job summary

CareTech in Wigan is recruiting a Waking Night Support Worker to provide person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. The role includes night shifts with sleep-ins and rota-based hours in a supportive living service.

You will work to individual support plans, help with daily living tasks, and promote wellbeing and independence. A DBS check is required, with opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Care sector experience is essential.
• Willingness to work towards Level 2 QCF (Social Care Wales registration).
• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis.
• Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech).
• Drivers desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred support in line with individual support plans.
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required.
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
• Support activities, appointments, and community access.
• Maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team.
• Work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.

Waking Night Support Worker

Location - Wigan

£13.45 per hour - £7.60 per waking night sleep

Permanent | Full-time | 37.5 hours per week plus (rota-based)

About the Service – Ullswater Court

Royston Close is a registered Supported Living Service made up of self-contained flats, supporting adults aged 18+ in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. The service promotes independence, choice, and wellbeing through tailored, person-centred support.

Service User Interests

• Arts and crafts
• Days out such as Theme Parks, Meals out, Social activities, Christmas markets etc.
• Holidays and short breaks
• Walks in the local park and community
• Cooking and baking to develop life skills

The Role

You will:

• Deliver person-centred support in line with individual support plans
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care where required
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing

We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.
