Job description

Those huge, small victories

Our residential houses accommodate young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs; and our aim is to create the best possible outcome for the young people in our care.

Working in our Residential Houses means being a part of a young person’s day-to-day life and being there for the highest highs and lowest lows. Our Residential Support Workers enable our young people to regain their childhood and create pathways to become well-rounded adults – an incredibly rewarding role to have.

Our support workers find fulfillment in affecting even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things. Although there will be challenges along the way, there will also be moments that feel like huge victories!

Get out what you put in.

You will take care of the day-to-day needs of our young people and create lasting memories along the way. We offer a 24-hour curriculum where we support young people to get ready and attend school, support with independent living skills, organise and take part in meaningful activities, complete paperwork, and create a homely, happy environment.

Evenings and weekends are for fun, whether playing on the Xbox, playing a game of football, going to the cinema, or go-karting – not a bad way to spend your day at work!

Working at Cedar House School is never dull, and the work truly matters. We strive to understand each young person’s needs, personality, and potential, guiding them toward a positive future. We thrive on establishing trusting and meaningful relationships with our young people, as they see us as central adults and positive role models in their lives.

“Changing Lives, Building Futures” - We really do make a difference at Cedar House School

Enabling young people to progress and succeed is part of the DNA of our integrated education, care, and clinical team, achieved by truly celebrating each young person’s individuality and talents.

The state-of-the-art residential offering allows residents to benefit from the 24-hour curriculum while living in a truly homely and personalised environment.

The result is that each young person develops skills and confidence to achieve both academic and life successes, with a launchpad to realise their potential and leave ready to live life to the full. We were recently recognised as Good in Education and Outstanding for our Residential provision.

What we do for you

We know you are going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we reward you with the best salary and benefits package in the education sector. With us, you will bring learning to life and make a genuine difference to the lives of our young people – plus you will get:

At Witherslack Group, we celebrate everyone’s differences, as that makes us the best at what we do. Our young people come from diverse backgrounds and have different needs – our workforce reflects that diversity, enabling our teams to engage, encourage, and inspire our young people to be themselves. You do not need experience, but we will look for:

  • A ‘can do’ attitude – a team player ready to help others
  • Genuine care for our young people and each other, with honesty and empathy
  • Resilience to handle challenging situations
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people
  • A full UK driving licence

If you do not have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we will support you to study and develop.
