Job summary

Sense is seeking a Waking Night Support Worker for Hyde Close Flats in Barnet to provide awake, overnight care for seventeen adults with sensory impairments and complex needs. The role is permanent and part-time, 20 hours per week, paying £15.08 per hour inclusive of Inner London Allowance and a waking night enhancement.

You will support residents through the night to ensure safety and comfort, with duties including personal care, daily tasks, and preparation for the morning team.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience supporting people with sensory impairments or complex needs.
  • Experience using communication methods such as signing, symbols, or objects of reference.
  • Care Certificate.
  • Knowledge of BSL is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Personal care and hygiene support.
  • Assist with daily living tasks (cooking, cleaning).
  • Support with finances and medication.
  • Encourage community activities and social events.
  • Support residents’ wellbeing (emotional and developmental).
  • Provide night-time safety and reassurance until morning team arrives.
  • Attend training and develop in the role.

Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose. We're looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to join our team at Hyde Close Flats in Barnet; a welcoming service supporting seventeen adults with sensory impairments, mobility needs, and complex learning disabilities to live as independently as possible. As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will be awake and actively supporting throughout the night, ensuring the people we support feel safe and comfortable until the morning team arrives.

This is a permanent role working 20 hours per week on a waking night basis, paying £13.00 per hour plus Inner London Allowance of £1.58 per hour and a £0.50 per hour waking night enhancement.

The service is home to a large communal sensory garden and provides a supportive environment where residents live as independently as possible. No two days will be the same.

This role has the following requirements:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience supporting people with sensory impairments or complex needs
  • Experience using communication methods such as signing, symbols, or objects of reference
  • Care Certificate
  • Knowledge of BSL - desirable
