Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a WAF Security Engineer to design, implement and evolve our Web Application Firewall platforms, protecting critical customer-facing services at scale.

You will automate with IaC and CI/CD, drive platform modernisation and improve monitoring, incident response and security posture across edge, data centre and cloud environments. This hybrid role offers significant influence over technical direction.

Qualifications

• Proficient with edge, on-premises or cloud-native WAF technologies.
• Strong networking and web fundamentals (HTTP/S, DNS, TLS).
• Experience in Application Security, API Security, Bot Protection, Layer 7 DDoS mitigation.
• Automation and scripting skills (Python) with IaC tools (Terraform) and CI/CD.
• Ability to influence engineering decisions and lead investigations.
• Cloud certifications or security accreditations are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise WAF controls and rules.
• Use IaC, CI/CD to deliver secure, scalable outcomes.
• Drive platform modernisation and reduce technical debt.
• Improve observability, monitoring and incident response.
• Assist in major incidents with other teams.
• Produce runbooks and platform guidance.
• Participate in on-call rota with compensation.
