Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a WAF Security Engineer to design, implement and maintain Web Application Firewall platforms protecting customer‑facing services. The role uses modern engineering practices, automation and secure‑by‑default design to improve resilience and security across edge, data centre and cloud environments.

You will work with autonomy, influence technical direction, and develop WAF and Layer 7 security capabilities while contributing to incident response and runbooks.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with edge, on‑premises or cloud‑native WAF technologies.
Strong networking and web fundamentals (HTTP/S, DNS, TLS).
Automation and scripting skills in Python; IaC tooling like Terraform.

Responsibilities

Design, implement and optimse WAF controls and policies to protect customers.
Develop new WAF capabilities using IaC, CI/CD and policy‑as‑code.
Contribute to platform modernization and reduce technical debt.
Improve observability with monitoring, alerts and telemetry for resilience.
Participate in on‑call rota and support incident resolution.
