Job summary

NHS is seeking a Volunteer Support Officer in Portsmouth, England, to assist the Voluntary Services Manager and develop a proactive volunteer service. The role is NHS Band 4, with 37.5 hours per week, full-time, with a fixed-term 12-month maternity cover (secondment considered).

The post involves induction and training for volunteers, recruitment, patient feedback collection, and coordinating the volunteer teams, with opportunities to contribute to service development within the Trust.

Qualifications

• NVQ4 in Administration or equivalent level knowledge and experience.
• ECDL or equivalent qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
• Certificate in Personnel Practice or equivalent qualification or experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage induction and on-the-job training for volunteers.
• Ensure volunteers feel valued and regularly review retention.
• Recruit volunteers within the Trust and its charity partners.
• Co-ordinate collection of patient feedback through surveys by the Patient experience volunteers
• Handle all applications for current vacancies and respond to new requests or areas for development of voluntary help.
• Manage the day to day provision of the Trusts Happy to Chat volunteer team, the Hospital Guides, and the Patient Experience volunteers.
• Manage and supervise the Voluntary services team and office, acting as Deputy when required for the Voluntary Services Manager
