Chief Constables' Message

We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly in order to keep people in our counties safe.

We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person then we want to hear from you.

We wish you all the very best with your application.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

The role involves attending Safety in Action events around the county of East Sussex alongside the CSW Manager and the Volunteer CSW District Administrators and helping to deliver short lesson plans to year 6 students as part of the Road Safety Team educational programme as well as helping at other school and community events.

The Safety in Action events take place between March and July.

Skills & Experience
  • Ability to learn and deliver the lesson plans with minimal supervision
  • Patient with young people, willing to change style of delivery according to need
  • Knowledge of Road Safety and Issues surrounding children on their route to school, all other key skills will be given by the Scheme Manager

Due to the location of the events, the candidate will require a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle. Mileage for travelling will be recompensed.

Enhanced DBS check will be required and will be completed by Sussex Police.

Why Volunteer With Us?

We take pride in looking after our volunteers, through volunteering you will have the opportunity to:

As a police support volunteer you will have access to financial and mental well-being guidance and support, discounts for everyday spend, our on-site gyms and a range of sports clubs. Volunteering with us will also allow you to apply for other voluntary and paid positions within the Force.

We are only as good as our people. It's important that our officers and staff can be themselves in the workplace and we know that as an organisation we'll grow from the variety of thinking, approach, and the skills that diversity brings; all of which help us to deliver a better policing service.
