Skills & Experience

To apply as a PCSO you must:

• Be aged 17 at point of application. You must be 18 before you can start.
• Have a full UK manual driving licence, by time of appointment.
• Over 19 - No requirement to hold GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English. However, candidates must complete the Initial English Assessment before starting. Candidates without a GCSE or equivalent must achieve a minimum of 'Working Towards Level 2', whereas candidates who already hold a GCSE or equivalent can proceed with a minimum of 'Working Towards Level 1.'
• Under 19 - GCSE/Level 2 Maths & English at a C/4 Grade or above. Candidates without GCSE or equivalent qualifications must enrol onto Functional Skills before starting. They will be required to achieve Level 2 before gateway and must achieve a minimum of 'Working Towards Level 2' in the Initial Assessment.
• You must have lived in the UK for three continuous years immediately prior to application.
• Have leave to enter or leave to remain and work in the UK for an indefinite period.
• Not have six penalty points or more
• Not be a member of the British National Party (BNP) or other relevant organisations
• Not have tattoos which could cause offence
• Not have served a prison sentence.
