Job description

Summary

We’re looking for volunteers to assist customers collecting their purchases from our eBay site, ensuring a positive experience and supporting a local charity.

Detailed description

We are seeking volunteers to assist customers who are collecting items they have purchased. Many customers opt to collect items rather than have them posted, meaning we have the chance to interact with customers to ensure they have a positive experience. When customers arrive to collect their item, we want them to be happy with their product and know that their purchase supports a local charity.

We ask you to commit to at least one regular half-day weekly session. We have sessions available from Monday to Friday at:

AM: 9am to 12pm
PM: 1pm to 3pm

Alternative time slots can be arranged with the manager.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Checking our account to identify those who will be collecting their items.
  • Finding the item in our warehouse.
  • Prepping the item for collection if required.
  • Meeting and greeting customers who are collecting items.
  • Ensuring customers have a positive experience.
  • Promoting the public’s understanding of the work of Isabel Hospice and the importance of raising funds through our eBay shop.
  • Promoting and applying the Isabel Hospice Health & Safety Policy.

Your Skills and Abilities:

  • Enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Good organisational skills.

Benefits to you:

  • Meet new people and learn new skills.
  • Work with a friendly team and be part of the Isabel family.
  • Contribute to the provision of care to our patients.
  • Comprehensive induction and training.
  • Support with your career goals and personal development.
  • Opportunities to learn from long-term volunteers and staff.

Am I eligible to apply to volunteer?

We ask that our volunteers are:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Live within an easy commute to the area.
  • Interested in volunteering for at least 6 months for at least 3 hours per week.

All volunteers are assessed individually for the volunteer roles they are applying for. We strongly believe in equal opportunities and welcome applicants who are representative of our diverse communities.

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Isabel Hospice guidelines.
  • Have a professional and courteous manner in accordance with Isabel Hospice policies.
  • Demonstrate Isabel Hospice values.
  • Identify yourself as a volunteer while carrying out your duties.

All appointments are at the discretion of the management team and are subject to a one-month trial period for both parties.

Thank you for supporting Isabel Hospice.

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.

Isabel Hospice is a local charity and each year we care for hundreds of people across eastern Hertfordshire. All our care is free and can be provided in your home, at our community hubs or our In-Patient Unit. Most of the people we care for have cancer; however, we are also increasingly caring for people with other life-limiting conditions. See more opportunities by Isabel Hospice.
