Job summary

Vodafone Group Plc in Newbury is seeking an experienced Fixed Voice design professional to lead end-to-end design, implementation, and optimisation of voice services. You will translate business needs into scalable technical designs and collaborate across teams to deliver secure, high-quality voice solutions.

You will contribute to governance, drive improvements, and shape voice technology roadmaps while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering telecommunications solutions within complex technology environments.
• Strong expertise in Fixed Voice technologies, including SIP, VoIP, interconnect services and voice network architectures.
• Knowledge of Softswitches, Media Gateways, IMS platforms, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), Intelligent Networks, PBX and IVR solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and optimisation of Fixed Voice solutions, ensuring resilience, security and alignment with business objectives.
• Create high-quality technical designs and architecture documentation translating requirements into scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams, delivery partners and suppliers to introduce new capabilities and enhance voice services.
• Provide technical leadership and SME across Fixed Voice technologies through design, implementation and support lifecycles.
• Develop HLDs/LLDs, implementation plans and documentation to enable delivery and support.
• Identify opportunities to improve services through automation, standardisation and process optimisation.

What you’ll do

• You’ll lead the end-to-end design and optimisation of Fixed Voice solutions, ensuring platforms remain resilient, secure and aligned with business objectives.
• You’ll create high-quality technical designs and architecture documentation, translating business requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
• You’ll collaborate with internal teams, delivery partners and suppliers to introduce new capabilities and enhance existing voice services.
• You’ll provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across Fixed Voice technologies throughout the design, implementation and support lifecycle.
• You’ll develop High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLDs/LLDs), implementation plans and technical documentation that enable successful delivery and ongoing support.
• You’ll identify opportunities to improve services through automation, standardisation and process optimisation.
• You’ll work closely with key technology partners, cloud providers and suppliers to ensure solutions are delivered to agreed quality and performance standards.
• You’ll support testing, validation and technical assurance activities to ensure solutions are deployment-ready and fit for purpose.
• You’ll analyse complex technical challenges, contribute to incident and problem resolution, and drive continuous improvement through root-cause analysis.
• You’ll participate in governance forums, design reviews and assurance activities, ensuring solutions meet security, regulatory and architectural standards.
• You’ll help shape the future of voice technology by contributing to transformation initiatives, technology roadmaps and innovation programmes.

Who you are

• Proven experience designing and delivering telecommunications solutions within complex technology environments.
• Strong expertise in Fixed Voice technologies, including SIP, VoIP, interconnect services and voice network architectures.
• Knowledge of Softswitches, Media Gateways, IMS platforms, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), Intelligent Networks, PBX and IVR solutions.
• Experience producing technical designs, architectures, implementation plans and supporting documentation to a high standard.
• Comfortable translating business requirements into practical technical solutions that balance customer needs, risk, cost and operational efficiency.
• Strong understanding of Telco Cloud technologies, including NFV, SDN and modern virtualised network environments.
• Familiarity with cloud and cloud-native deployment models across on-premises, hybrid and public cloud platforms.
• Skilled at building effective relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, systems integrators and technology partners.
• A collaborative problem solver who can navigate complex technical challenges and deliver successful outcomes across multiple teams.
• Understanding of regulatory, security and operational requirements within telecommunications environments.
• Passion for continuous improvement, innovation and emerging technologies, with a desire to challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change.
