Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support vocational learning for KS3/KS4 learners in Rochdale. This permanent, full-time position emphasises practical, workshop-based activities over traditional classroom teaching.

You will lead vocational taster sessions, deliver activities such as painting and decorating or basic construction, and help learners gain confidence, employability and teamwork under supportive supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people.
• Experience delivering practical or vocational activities.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Eligible to work in the UK and willing to complete safeguarding checks.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging vocational learning sessions to small groups of learners.
• Lead practical activities linked to trades and employability skills.
• Support vocational taster programmes such as painting and decorating; basic construction skills; DIY and maintenance projects; creative practical projects; employability and life skills activities.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH and SEND.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience and engagement.
• Support learners to develop confidence, communication and teamwork skills.
• Work closely with teaching staff to contribute to personalised learning pathways.
• Maintain a safe and purposeful learning environment.
