Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a permanent Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support vocational learning programmes for Key Stage 3 and 4 learners in Rochdale. The role emphasises practical, workshop-style activities to engage students who face barriers to mainstream education.

The successful candidate will lead vocational tasters, build positive relationships with young people, and collaborate with staff to shape personalised learning pathways in a supportive setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people
• Experience delivering practical or vocational activities
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• Full-time availability
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• Willingness to complete safeguarding and recruitment checks

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging vocational learning sessions to small groups of learners
• Lead practical activities linked to trades and employability skills
• Support vocational taster programmes such as painting/decorating, basic construction, DIY and maintenance, creative projects, and life skills
• Adapt learning activities to meet SEMH/SEND needs
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience and engagement
• Support learners to develop confidence, communication and teamwork
• Work with staff to contribute to personalised learning pathways
• Maintain a safe and purposeful learning environment
