Job summary

MDCV UK in Gravesham offers a viticulture apprenticeship within our vineyard team. You will gain hands-on experience tending multiple young vineyards and learn through our preferred apprenticeship provider.

The role covers crop walks, pruning, harvesting, record keeping, and contributing to sustainable, budget-conscious vineyard programs. Travel and team collaboration are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Full clean driving licence and own transport.
  • Willingness to travel and flexible start/finish times.
  • Comfortable speaking with clients and staff.
  • Good IT and mobile app skills.
  • Able to work a 5 over 7 shift pattern.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and be a team player.
  • Flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to adapt.

Responsibilities

  • Work with vineyard team to oversee multiple young vineyards.
  • Carry out crop walks for diseases, pests, nutrients, phenology and vineyard health.
  • Train, supervise and work with operatives during pruning and harvesting.
  • Record and report vineyard activities to the Vineyard team.
  • Design timely, budget-conscious and sustainable vineyard work programs.
  • Improve vineyard sustainability environmentally and financially through solid management.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc tasks and engage in other business activities as a team member.

Job description

As a viticuluture apprentice you will attend an apprenticeship programme through our preferrred apprenticeship provider.

Key responsibilities
  • Working with our Vineyard team to oversee multiple young vineyards.
  • Crop walks looking for diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, phenology, and general vineyard health and performance.
  • Training, supervising and working with operatives during manual work, e.g. shoot selection, pruning and harvesting.
  • Record keeping and reporting details of vineyard activities and management requirements to the Vineyard team.
  • Working closely with the Vineyard Team to design timely, budget conscious and environmentally sustainable vineyard work programs.
  • Continually improving the vineyard sustainability, both environmentally and financially through strong management techniques.
  • As well as the core requirements, set out above, as a team player you will be expected to undertake other ad-hoc work and engage fully with other business activities.
