Job summary

Matalan is seeking a Visual Merchandising Coordinator to support refresh and new store openings across the UK. The role focuses on developing VM communications, guidelines and store layouts that uphold brand standards and drive commercial success.

The successful candidate will work office-based with occasional store visits, collaborating with Store Development, Retail Operations and Marketing to ensure consistent customer experiences and accurate VM implementations.

Qualifications

• Experience in visual merchandising communications and guidelines.
• Ability to develop store-specific VM layouts in collaboration with Store Development.
• Strong planning, organisation and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to stores as needed.
• Experience coordinating with Marketing and POS for seasonal changes.

Responsibilities

• Create comprehensive visual merchandising guidelines for new store openings and refresh projects.
• Develop and adapt store-specific VM layouts and floor plans with Store Development and VM teams.
• Support merchandising strategies for new stores ensuring consistency across locations.
• Visit stores during refresh programmes to assess progress and provide on-site feedback.
• Act as VM contact during refresh projects, guiding VM standards, fixture placement and space planning.
• Support testing and optimisation of new fixtures, displays and VM kit.
• Partner with Marketing to understand POS for seasonal changes and promotions.
• Coordinate with Regional Visual Managers to ensure guideline implementation.
• Gather field feedback to improve VM communications and processes.
• Stay updated on retail VM trends to enhance communications and materials.
