Job summary

Factory International is seeking a Visitor Team Supervisor for Aviva Studios in Manchester. You will lead the Visitor Team, briefing hosts and volunteers, supporting operations during shifts, and escalating issues to the Venue Duty Manager to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

You will coordinate briefings, manage crowd movements, and supervise visitor-facing functions such as retail and reception, while championing Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility across all activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in delivering in live events venues with staff/volunteer management.
  • Willingness to undergo mandatory training and DBS checks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Visitor Team Hosts and Volunteers across shifts.
  • Deliver event briefings and motivate the team.
  • Ensure safety of visitors and staff, manage risk and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate venue readiness, crowd management and audience movements.
  • Oversee visitor-facing functions (retail, reception, cloakroom, ticket scanning).
  • Log and escalate customer feedback and resolve complaints where needed.
  • Promote a positive team culture and inclusive visitor experience.

JOB SUMMARY

The Visitor Team Supervisor is a key delivery role with our Visitor Team – it contributes to creating an outstanding and inclusive visitor experience at Aviva Studios, by leading the Visitor Team’s contribution to specific events and activities with our spaces. You will brief and manage the involvement of hosts and volunteers, support the team during their shift, and escalation any issues or feedback to the Venue Duty Manager as needed. You will contribute to ensuring the venue is a safe environment for staff and visitors – proactively responding to incidents and leading key venue procedures such as building evacuations.

The key responsibilities for the Visitor Team Supervisor include;

  • Play a leading role in the delivery of a world class Visitor Experience, supporting the Venue Duty Managers in collaborating with wider operational teams such as F&B, Facilities, Technical, Venue Porters and Security.
  • Deliver event briefings to Visitor Team Hosts and Venue Volunteers and play a key leadership role in supporting and motivating your team across their operational shifts.
  • Work with the Venue Duty Manager to ensure the safety of visitors, colleagues, and artworks through managing and mitigating risk in relation to crowd movements, incident management, and emergency preparedness.
  • Managing specific events across a range of formats and performance spaces at Aviva Studios; including venue readiness checks, clearance procedures, attending show stop meetings and managing audience movements.
  • Providing supervision and leadership to key visitor-facing functions including but not limited to retail, reception, cloakroom, and ticket scanning.
  • Respond to and mitigate customer feedback, ensuring any complaints are appropriately logged, investigated, resolved or escalated.
  • Work with the wider Duty Management team to embed a positive and proactive team culture.
  • Champion Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility, ensuring Aviva Studios provides a consistent experience to all visitors.

The person specification for the Visitor Team Supervisor are;

ESSENTIAL
  • Experience working in a delivery role at a live events venue with some responsibility for managing staff or volunteers.
  • Flexibility and commitment to work across a range of different productions and programme types.
  • Flexibility to apply for shifts across anti-social hours; including weekends, public holidays and late nights.
  • A willingness to under-go mandatory training in line with the requirements of the role.
  • Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Willing to complete relevant statutory checks e.g. DBS (Factory International can support with processing and payment)
DESIRABLE
  • Certificates in First Aid and Safeguarding.
  • Experience in managing a team of casual workers; including delivering briefings, monitoring attendance and people management.
  • Good teamwork and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-departmentally in live events; including collaborating with Technical, Events and Security teams.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, including a flexible approach to developing and delivering a world class Visitor Experience at Aviva Studios.
  • Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent.
