Job summary
National Trust Standen seeks a Welcome Manager at Standen House and Gardens, East Grinstead. You will lead a small but vital team, create exceptional visitor experiences and inspire colleagues and volunteers, ensuring every visitor connects with Standen's history and beauty.
Working pattern is Wednesday to Saturday with some Sunday/Bank Holiday work; you’ll be duty manager for the site and oversee operations in visitor spaces and the shop, while aligning with NT guidelines and safeguarding
Qualifications
- Experience in visitor services, tourism or heritage environments.
- Curiosity about people and a commitment to high standards of service.
- Highly organised with ability to lead and manage teams.
Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors to Standen House and Gardens and ensure a warm, memorable first impression.
- Line manage a team of 10 part‑time staff and 30+ volunteers; oversee visitor welcome spaces and the second-hand books shop.
- Lead from the front, uphold National Trust guidelines, and handle emergencies, safeguarding, cash and tills, and safety procedures.
