Job summary

Lakeland Arts is seeking a Visitor Experience Duty Manager to oversee front-of-house operations across its venues, primarily Windermere Jetty Museum. The role focuses on delivering exceptional visitor experiences, safety, and presentation standards, while coordinating teams across sites.

The role is part-time (15 hours a week, two days, mainly Friday and Saturday) with potential for rota flexibility and occasional evenings. Closing date is 22 September 2026, with interview on 28 September 2026.

• Experience in visitor experience or front‑of‑house operations is preferred.
• Ability to lead teams and ensure high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of Lakeland Arts venues as a key Visitor Experience team member.
• Lead visitor experience teams to maintain high standards from welcome to farewell.
• Act as on-site Duty Manager, overseeing front-of-house operations and safety.
• Maintain safe, well-presented working environment including health, safety, security, and maintenance.
• Based mainly at Windermere Jetty Museum with potential to cover other sites for rota flexibility.

Job Title: Visitor Experience Duty Manager

Salary: £26,653 per annum FTE

Hours: 15 hours, 2 days per week predominately Friday and Saturday with flexibility to cover holiday and occasional evenings

Location: Lakeland Arts (Windermere Jetty Museum, Abbot Hall and Blackwell, Lakeland Museum– currently closed. With Windermere Jetty Museum as a home site)

Reports to: Visitor Experience Manager

Term: Parttime, permanent

Purpose

This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Lakeland Arts venues as a key member of the Visitor Experience team. Responsibilities include ensuring the safe and successful running of our unique cultural venues and leading visitor experience teams to maintain high standards throughout – from a warm welcome to a fond farewell, and everything in between.

Acting independently as the on-site Duty Manager, the role oversees all front-of-house operations and is integral to maintaining a safe and well-presented working environment. This includes upholding the highest standards of customer service and presentation, as well as supporting teams with health, safety, security, and maintenance-related matters. This role will be based predominately at Windermere Jetty Museum with potential to eventually cover other sites for rota flexibility.
