The British Museum is recruiting for a range of Visitor Experience opportunities.
They are looking for very outgoing, enthusiastic, engaging, friendly and customer-focused individuals who are confident speaking to groups and crowds and genuinely enjoy interacting with people.
These opportunities are ideal for people who enjoy engaging with visitors, creating memorable experiences and working in a busy, world-class visitor attraction. You will need to be confident and proactive when interacting with all guests. There are a number of different opportunities available across the Museum (both indoor and outdoor), including areas such as Visitor Experience, Visitor Welcome, Exhibitions, and Queue & Ticketing.
You have worked in a visitor attraction, tourist venue or customer service role, and you know how to make people feel looked after in a crowd. You are outgoing, friendly and calm under pressure, and you can speak to a large group without losing your footing. You will also need a physical DBS certificate issued within the last five years, availability to attend the in-person assessment day on Thursday 22nd October, and flexibility across weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and the occasional evening. A second language would be a welcome addition. Please note that Queue & Ticketing positions are based entirely outdoors.
Assignments run from an immediate start until approximately 31st January 2027 or July 2027, depending on the position. That gives you a sustained run in a high-profile visitor environment rather than a short stint. You will work across the museum with a range of teams and build experience that carries weight in heritage and cultural recruitment. Shift patterns vary, from casual and flexible to a rolling rota, so there is room to find a pattern that works for you.
NB should you not hear from us after 5 working days of your application, this means that unfortunately on this occasion you have not moved to the next stage of the recruitment process.
